Howard University is a private, federally chartered historically black research university in Washington, D.C., located in the Shaw neighborhood. 

It is classified among “R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity” and accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.  Howard University has a 35% Acceptance rate, and a 62% Graduation rate. 

Civil rights activist  Thurgood Marshall attended Howard university in 1930, and African American actor Chadwick Bozeman  attended Howard University in 2000.
