The African American Museum at England Manor features a rich tapestry of exhibitions that celebrate the perseverance, achievements, and cultural heritage of African Americans. AFRICA ROOM

The Africa Room exhibition honors the deep cultural heritage and traditions of the African continent. Featuring artifacts, textiles, art, and music, it offers visitors a window into the ancestral roots and creative expressions that continue to influence the African American experience. Each piece tells a story, inviting reflection, connection, and appreciation for centuries of innovation and legacy.

THE MIDDLE PASSAGE

The Middle Passage room offers a powerful, immersive experience that honors the lives and stories of Africans forcibly brought to the Americas. Through artifacts, visuals, and narratives, the exhibition confronts the brutal realities of the transatlantic slave trade, encouraging reflection, awareness, and a deeper understanding of this profound chapter in African American history.

THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD

Step into the Underground Railroad Room and uncover the powerful stories of courage, sacrifice, and secret journeys to freedom. This exhibition highlights the brave individuals who risked everything to escape slavery and those who aided them along the way. Through artifacts, documents, and immersive displays, visitors gain a deeper understanding of this pivotal chapter in American history.

40 ACRES AND A MULE

The "40 Acres and a Mule" room explores the promise made to formerly enslaved people after the Civil War and its lasting impact. Through artifacts, photographs, and personal stories, this exhibit highlights the ongoing pursuit of land, opportunity, and justice. Visitors will gain insight into the legacy of Reconstruction and the enduring fight for equity and recognition.

CONTEMPORARY BLACK AMERICA

The Contemporary Black America exhibition highlights the vibrant culture, achievements, and ongoing contributions of African Americans today. This room showcases art, innovation, and stories that reflect the dynamic experiences shaping modern Black life. Visitors will gain insight into the community’s creativity, leadership, and impact across various fields, inspiring a deeper appreciation of contemporary African American identity.
